Sajin Babu, director of ‘Asthamayam Vare- Unto the Dusk’
Young filmmaker Sajin Babu’s start to his film career is storied. Three years ago Sajin was an aspiring filmmaker with a story in his hand. At the IFFK venue he came across a young chartered accountant lady who herself was a writer and artist. Hearing Sajin’s story she became interested and agreed to produce it.There began Sajin’s cinematic journey,’Asthamayam Vare- Unto the Dusk’ is about an unusual spiritual journey.
The movie is unconventional to the hilt and basically it is about the relation between man and nature. The film has no background score and dialogues are few and far between. The movie may not be everyone’s cup of tea,but still Sajin did win accolades galore.

Sajin said that the process of making the film was hugely challenging and enjoyable. It took 65 days and around 120 locations at far fetched areas for the film to be completed. He added that the IFFK shaped the filmmaker in him. He also remembered about the short film The Delegate’,that he made which is about IFFK. A film should have some backups to be noted in festivals or to win awards, believes Sajin. A new filmmaker on the other hand may have to encounter many obstacles.
