In the previous years, actor Dileep had been given the highest priority for satellite rights, followed by Mohanlal and then by mammootty. Various channels competed among one another to buy the rights of the films of these superstars by giving large amounts. But now, situations have changed. Nowadays channels are of the opinion that money should be given only upon the merit of the movie. Satellite rights are procured only after the release of films. The new trends in malayalam film industry clearly seems to have an impact on satellite rights as well.
