Manjima Mohan Is Upset With A Kollywood Director

Actress Manjima Mohan, who made her Kollywood debut with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s directorial Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, says that few Kollywood directors have been disrespectful to her. The pretty, bubbly actress couldn’t have asked for a better debut in Tamil and Telugu cinema with director Gautham Menon's Tamil-Telugu bilingual Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada. The actress stole the hearts of many and her performance in the movie was raved about. After the box-office success of the movie, Manjima was offered with many Kollywood projects and there was a director (name not mentioned) who behaved disrespectfully to the actress. 

Apparently, the director offered her a role in his upcoming movie, but after meeting her in person he spoke to her with total contempt. He made sarcastic comments on her bubbly figure saying that her “chubbiness would not perfect the demands of the character” and removed her from the film. The disrespectful behaviour of the director, however, did not go well with the actress who expressed her disappointment with the director in the latest interview to Mangalam.

The Chief Minister of Kerala recently said that megastar Mammootty is not someone who lives in a glass palace detached from others. It is a truism and Mammootty is a great example of how a celebrity can be humane by remaining a star. It is not as if he has taken a sabbatical from movies or is playing down his stardom. He enjoys his stardom and is not one to shy away from hogging limelight. But he has always distinguished himself by showing that he cares for his fellow actors and common people. His visit to the house of late actor Murali last day ahead of the marriage of his daughter is a case in point. It may be seen as just another act of courtesy but it has to be said that Mammootty is not doing it for the first time. It is notable that there were reports that he was keeping a cold equation with Murali during his last days. Mammootty had said in interviews during the time of Murali's demise that he was not sure why Murali developed ill feelings about him.This visit therefore underscores the fact that he has no negative feelings whatsoever towards Murali.

The way he reacted when actor Cochin Haneefa passed away also comes to mind. He was seen weeping inconsolably and afterwards he did his best to support the young family of Haneefa though thay was done without any publicity. There are numerous examples for Mammootty's love for his compatriots. It is heard that he was among the few actors who cared for the family of actor Ratheesh after he died. Mammootty stood with the family during difficult times and in fact Ratheesh's son Padmaraj made his acting debut in his movie Fireman. Many fellow actors have remarked that Mammootty is their role model especially in the matter of leading a very organized and purposeful life.

The way he maintains his fitness and the discipline in his life are phenomenal. Actor Manoj.K.Jayan has said that Mammootty notes even minor things how his fellow actors dresses up.According to him it was he who advised him about dressing up and carrying himself well. Mammootty's initiative to supply drinking water during the height of summer season showed that he is a socially conscious star. He is not an ordinary megastar who amazes with his histrionic skills only, but one who has a kind heart. He is a rare breed who is getting better like wine in every aspect. A complete package so to speak.

നിത്യ മേനോൻ

ജേണലിസമാണ്‌ താരം പഠിച്ചതെങ്കിലും സിനിമ നടിയായില്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ താൻ ഒരു വയസ്സു മുതൽ അഞ്ച് വയസുവരെ പ്രായമുള്ള കുട്ടികൾക്കായി ഒരു ക്രഷ് തുടങ്ങുമായിരുന്നുവെന്നാണ്‌ നിത്യ പറയുന്നത്. കുട്ടികളുടെ കൂടെയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ടെൻഷനൊന്നും ഉണ്ടാകില്ലെന്നും ഇപ്പോഴും സിനിമ വിടുകയാണെങ്കിൽ താൻ ചെയ്യാനാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത് അതാണെന്നും താരം പറയുന്നു.

Bhaskar the Rascal Movie Review 

'Bhaskar the Rascal' is listless.

      The penchant of director Siddique for English titles for his movies is well known. Well 'Bhaskar the Rascal',is indeed a rhyming and curiosity evoking title. The movie has the stamp of Siddique all over it, not of his heydays but of his recent jaded version. Comedy was always his forte and in most of his films there is a solid story acting as the spine. And humour never looked out of place as it was created out of situations. 'Bhaskar the Rascal' on that count is a lame effort which tries to narrate a wafer thin plot with emotional gimmicks.

      Bhaskar(Mammootty) is a widower with a son Aadhi(Master Sanoop). He is a self made millionaire who builds an empire from the business wreckage of his father, played by Janardhanan. He is an uncouth man who has a rough exterior. But like a typical Siddique hero he has a golden heart. The typical characters which Siddique uses as sidekicks of hero are here as well in the form of Harisree Ashokan, Kalabhavan Shajon and Saju Navodaya. They are just card board characters created just to manufacture laughter.
