Actress Tabu to play cop in Nishikant Kamat's remake of Drishyam
Popular actress Tabu, who has won lots of accolades for her performance in superhit Bollywood flick "Haider", has now bagged a plum role in Ajay Devgn's upcoming movie, which will be a remake of blockbuster Malayalam movie "Drishyam".
"Drishyam" has already been remade as "Drishya" in Kannada, "Drushyam" in Telugu and "Papanasam" in Tamil. The Kannada and Telugu remakes have proved to be big hits, while the Tamil version is yet to release in theatres. Director Jeethu Joseph has written the story and directed "Drishyam".
Nishikant Kamat is reportedly directing the untitled Hindi remake of the Malayalam murder mystery. Reports suggest that Ajay Devgn will play the hero's role originally played by Mohanlal in "Drishyam". The director is yet to reveal the names of the stars playing other prominent roles including Ajay's wife (not Tabu) and daughter. Tabu has been roped in to play the police officer, which is a crucial role in the movie and has got a lot of scope for performance. Asha Sarath played the role in the original version and she has bagged Best Supporting actress honours from Filmfare, Asianet, Jaihind TV, Asiavision and Amrita Film Awards.
